After graduating with a BSc Honours degree in Human Biology (Class 2.1), I developed my editorial skills through
11 years’ in-house employment in medical publishing and communications agencies.

I established my freelance business in 2005 and have developed good working relationships with my clients. I work with a range of clients including physicians, communications agencies, PR companies, med ed providers, publishers and pharmaceutical companies. 

I am a member of the European Medical Writers Association (EMWA).

2000-2005

Editorial Projects Manager
I was responsible for the timely and professional production of all deliverables for my assigned accounts. In addition, I advised on publication strategy, worked with production teams, clients and opinion leaders and reviewed the work of Writers in my team. Other activities depended on the type of account but typically included writing and editing educational materials, presentations, scientific papers and congress items.

Senior Writer
As Senior Writer I focussed on writing and editing for multiple accounts, supporting pre- and post-launch drugs. The projects ranged from meeting proceedings to primary or review papers, and from congress abstract submissions to training materials.

1996-2000

Managing Editor
I was accountable for the editorial production of quality manuals and other resources for clinicians and specialists at this medical publishing company. The role included scheduling all projects, reporting progress to internal management and external customers and signoff for all printed projects. Managing a team of Editors, I had responsibility for developing their editorial skills through training, as well as managing the department’s resourcing.

Senior Editor
This former position involved progressing an assigned collection of titles from initial manuscript to printer-ready film. The work entailed editing or rewriting initial drafts, incorporating client and author amendments, preparing copy for typesetting and carrying out the final quality-control checks.

Medical Writer
My role at this medical communication agency was to write scripts for videos and ensure the scientific accuracy and continuity of animation, visuals and voice-overs. In addition, I adapted video scripts for use in other media such as print and CD-ROM.
